O2 reintroduced the HTC Diamond 100 phone as XDA Ignito because of its design and multimedia features.

Phone Design

The phone design is very sleek and professional along with smart navigational controls that users will appreciate. The 2.8-inch display uses TFT technology capable of showing up to 65,000 colors in a 480 x 640 pixel quality. Because of this, the XDA Ignito phone has a clear display of images and fonts.

Navigation Controls

The O2 XDA Ignito has a centerpiece sensor that users can rotate for easy navigation between menu icons. Useful finger swipe navigation across the phone screen to access tasks is also possible with the TouchFLO 3D technology.

Operating System

It is definitely more than just a mobile phone with the Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro operating system. The whole package includes a 192 MB DDR SDRAM and a 256 MB ROM. It uses the Qualcomm MSM7201A with a 528 MHz processing power. This computing power supports a Pocket Office Suite that includes Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PDF viewer and One Note.

Network Connectivity

The XDA Ignito is a tri-band GSM phone because of its 2G network connectivity to three GSM frequencies: 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz. It also uses HSDPA for fast access and connection at about 7.2 Mbps for 3G network connectivity. Aside from 2G and 3G network connectivity, it also has WLAN support for Wi-Fi 802.11.

Pros

  • The complex computing power of the phone is hidden beneath a well-planned design making it equally appealing to both techie and non-techie phone users.
  • The sheer availability of multimedia service, connectivity options, and navigational controls gives the phone enough features to appeal to consumers.

Cons

  • The standard battery life of O2 XDA Ignito is about 5 hours but simultaneously using multimedia tasks in the phone can shorten the battery life a lot faster.
  • Some people must spend a lot of time studying the phone features and controls. It is not user-friendly so phone users have to spend a lot of effort to learn how to use it.

Overall

The O2 XDA Ignito is a repackaged HTC Diamond so if you hated the Diamond, buying this phone is not an option. However, you may actually see a number of features that O2 has added as a plus.
