Overview
A phone designed for wear, the Motorola MOTOACTV W450 is for those who live a rugged, rough-and-tumble existence, allowing them to take their phone with them and not fear for its durability as this one is made to last. DesignThe MOTOACTV W450 features the familiar clamshell design of Motorola flip phones. This one somewhat resembles a hybrid of the RAZR series and the rounder clamshells of the brand, with the sleek, thin lines of the RAZR with softer, slightly rounded edges. Features
Talk/Standy time: 7.5 hours/10 days OverallThe MOTOACTV W450 stands out in the crowd of other cell phones through its extreme durability and ability to resist wear. Designed for those with an active lifestyle, the phone, also known as the ACTIVE, truly represents what its name stands for. With a rubberized texture, grip is enhanced, and clammy hands that lose their phone are a thing of the past. This phone remains firmly in the user's hand. Its optimal size further enhances this feature. Big enough to rest well into a palm, yet not as big as to force the stretch of the hand, this phone is sized just right. Neither too light nor heavy, at barely 99 grams, the MOTOACTV W450 is one phone designed for enhanced hands-on use, without compromising on style. Sporting clean lines with slightly rounded edges, the flip model makes a cool style statement. With its combination of classy dark colours and crisper, flashier tones (the Mandarin orange tone comes to mind), this indeed makes a visual statement as well. Speaking of call quality, the phone comes with the CrystalTalk noise reduction technology, which ensures excellent voice quality. The ACTIVE is however mostly destined to those who enjoy and outdoorsy lifestyle. As such, the phone comes equipped with the Mayo Clinic™ InTouch™ software with first aid tips and symptom checker, very helpful when in remote locations or when medical assistance may not be available immediately. The MOTOACTV W450 seems to be a whole package for the one who likes life in the wide open spaces and in nature. This doesn't mean one isn't connected or away from entertainment. The phone features a very good MP3 player. Music can be downloaded and transferred to the phone through a USB cable (sold separately) through the miniUSB connection. Music capacity can further be enhanced with an up-to-2MB microSD memory card. There is a 2.5 mm stereo headset jack, to plug in headphones. Other than all the above, the MOTOACTV W450 is devoid of frills. It delivers a punchy offer, with all bases covered. On this note though, the quality of the camera is rather lacking, eaturing mediocre quality and no flash. Pros
Cons
Special mentionIts extreme durability and rubberized texture. Built for the rough-and-tumble life. ConclusionA very good phone. The MOTOACTV W450 delivers on all fronts, especially when viewed in the light it was conceived - for the rougher, rugged lifestyle. Someone who isn't looking for frills and wants a durable, quality phone will also find a good deal with the ACTIVE. Click on the photo for more information on the Motorola MOTO-ACTV-W450
