LG Venus Pink

LG Venus Pink

The LG Venus Pink is the moderately attractive successor to the famous LG 8550 Chocolate phone. It features the same slider design as its predecessor and packs just enough punch for it to appeal to those who are looking for an attractive phone with some real power to it. While it is a well designed phone with plenty of features that can keep even tech junkies happy, the LG Venus Pink is missing a few points which would have really boosted its status. Making the Venus a pink phone is also somewhat strange, as the device has a masculine feel to it. All in all, however, the LG Venus Pink is a decent phone which you should definitely check out if you are looking for a mid-high end device.

Being a Verizon specific phone, the LG Venus Pink is linked to the CDMA network, so it may not be used in many other parts of the world. On the bright side, however, the phone does allow for 3G support over the EVDO data network, so if you are into data transfers, this phone will certainly be fast.

As far as size is concerned, the LG Venus Pink is somewhat large and weighty. Measuring in at approximately four inches by two inches by a half an inch in thickness (when the device is closed) and weighing in at 108 grams, you will definitely be able to feel the LG Venus Pink when it is in your pocket or your purse.

Oddly enough, despite the phone’s large size, the battery is sorely lacking in power. Expect to reach only four hours of talk time on a full charge. Strangely enough, however, the LG Venus Pink can last for as long as twenty days of standby time from a single charge.

The aesthetics of the phone are well done, and you can tell that a lot of thought was put into this device’s design. The most prominent feature is the massive 240×320 pixel pressure sensitive touch screen on the front of the device. However, LG didn’t really take the time to carefully implement the touch features, so the screen feels a little gimmicky.

As far as other features go, you will find a 2.0 megapixel camera, a music and video player, a microSD memory slot for expandable memory, 1.2 Stereo Bluetooth support, GPS support, and a variety of phonebook and quick dial related features.

Pros

  • Attractive
  • Beautiful touch screen
  • Lots of features

Cons

  • Short battery life
  • Somewhat masculine for a pink phone

Overall

The LG Venus Pink is a fantastic phone without too many flaws. It’s a solid device, but unfortunately, don’t expect to use all of those features at once. The battery life is far too short for a phone that functions as a media player, a GPS, and a calling device.
