The LG AX-565 is a sleek and stylish clamshell phone that is designed to appeal to the average consumer while still including some impressive features. Unfortunately, a few problems with the device really hold it back. Nonetheless, the LG AX-565 is a great multimedia phone for those looking for an all in one device that can make and receive calls as well as store and playback audio and video.
The LG AX-565 is a dual band CDMA phone, so it can only be used in the United States and a few other places in the world. However, what the phone lacks in global mobility, it more than makes up for in data transfer speeds. The LG AX-565 can access the 3G high-speed EVDO rev.0 network, allowing you to send and receive pictures, video, and other data at speeds nearing those of Wi-Fi. Measuring in at approximately four inches by two inches by a half of an inch, the LG AX-565 is not too large and not too small. Furthermore, the device is practically featherweight at 92 grams. Perfect for the pants’ pocket or the purse. Unfortunately, it appears that LG has trimmed off battery life in order to keep the phone’s size and weight down. Expect to get only three and half hours of talk time or 170 hours of standby time on a single charge. There are two screens on the LG AX-565, a main one located inside of the clamshell and an external screen. The main screen measures 2.2 inches and features 176 by 220 pixels of resolution. This screen can display 262k colors at one time. The secondary display measures 1.3 inches and features 128 by 160 pixels of resolution. This external display is capable of displaying up to 65k colors at once. The LG AX-565 also includes a built-in 1.3 megapixel digital camera. It can take videos and features support for four times digital zoom. Multimedia features are plentiful. The LG AX-565 supports a wide variety of video and audio formats. Memory is expandable via microSD cards. Other features include Bluetooth 1.1 support, a 500 name capacity phone book, an alarm, a calendar, a unit converter, a calculator, a notepad, a clock, a stopwatch, voice-command support, a voice recorder, a speakerphone, and email support. Pros
Cons
OverallThe LG AX-565 is a decent clamshell phone with a lot of features. Unfortunately, the poor battery life and the subpar quality of the included features really hinder the LG AX-565 from being a great device. With all of the other stylish clamshell phones on the market, the LG AX-565 is really not that great of a deal. Unless you can get it for free or very cheap, consider passing on this device.
