i-mate Ultimate 6150

Phone Size

Weighing in at 152 grams (with battery), the i-mate Ultimate 6150 is a sleek 60.5 x 118.5 x 15.5 mm, which i-mate users may notice is the same dimensions boasted by the i-mate Ultimate 8150. Despite its measurement-sharing with the 8150, the i-mate Ultimate 6150 does not include a keyboard, which some users may feel creates some wasted space on the phone's face.

Screen Size and Features

Users will find a surprisingly generously-sized LCD screen, measuring 2.8 inches (.6 in larger than the screen found on the 8150). The display screen is a color transflective TFT with 480x640 resolution. The 6150's touchscreen display also features handwriting recognition.

System Features

The i-mate Ultimate 6150 runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 Professional (Crossbow) AKU 0.3.1 and features a 32-bit Intel Xscale PXA270, 520 MHz processor. It also boasts a juiced-up NVIDIA GoForce 5500 graphics accelerator.

The RAM and ROM offerings at 128 MB and 256 MB respectively may disappoint. However, the 6150 does support expansion up to 2GB with microSD cards (not included).

Network Capabilities

As with similar smartphones, the 6150 features the standard HSDPA connectivity for broadband speeds data downloading.

Battery Specifications

Included standard with the 6150 is a Lithium-Ion 1530 mAh removable battery. Users can expect up to 4 hours of talk time and 300 hours of standby with the i-mate Ultimate 6150's battery, which certainly does not stand out as far as battery life goes, but compares reasonably with other smartphones with similar capabilities.

Camera Elements

Users will find that the 6150 is full of surprise features, including dual cameras. The i-mate Ultimate 6150's primary camera provides 1.9 megapixels of resolution and includes autofocus and a built-in LED flash. The 6150's secondary camera is a front-mounted VGA (0.3 MP) designed for video calling.

Output Features

A novel feature found in the 6150 is the video-out connector that allows users to hook the phone up to a projector for presentations. The phone supports up to 1,024 x 768 pixels (XGA), which makes it ideal for boardroom projectors.

Other Notable Features

In addition to SMS, MMS, email, and Instant Messaging, users can expect built-in hands-free Bluetooth (2.0 + EDR). Wireless LAN (802.11b, 802.11e, 802.11i, 802.11g) and Infrared Gate (115200bit/s (SIR/CIR)) are included. Additionally, users may enjoy the availability of Windows Media Player 10, a video/audio album, voice menu, and stereo FM radio features (87.5-108MHz).

The i-mate Ultimate 6150 supports 64 chord melody as well as speakerphone and vibrating alert with a 3.5 mm audio output. Users will be able to employ polyphonic and MP3 ringtones (downloadable). The 6150's loudspeaker and microphone operate in mono.
