HTC 5800

HTC 5800

With a compact construction and plenty of features, the HTC 5800 provides the traditional telephone keypad and bar style factor along with a text keyboard that is found just under the other boards. Access is simply one quick slide of the external boards. Using Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0, the 5800 is all set for high speed Internet access with EVDO high speed data capability. A button lock feature means there is no chance of activating a feature by accident, which can be a comfort for anyone who carries the unit around in a pants pocket.

The display area is a solid QVGA setup, with an ample viewing window. The camera function is easy to operate and does not require a lot of expertise to take excellent shots. Bluetooth capability allows the 5800 to provide a lot of the common functions that may people expect from a basic handheld device, such as messaging. While the loaded memory is only adequate, there is a memory card slot that helps to expand the usability of the unit.

When it comes to making a call, the 5800 provides some of the clearest connections possible with a wireless device. The clarity of the signals makes it easy to hear and to be heard. Thus far, it appears that the HTC 5800 is also quite good at maintaining a signal, with lesser incidence of dropped calls. While there is no touch screen included with the 5800, the keyboards make navigation very easy.
