And which one do you think is the best in terms of quality, storage space, privacy, security and trust?

I use myself currently. I host my own email and get it via POP using thunderbird, but that has a disadvantage of no access from any other computer or OS (except through mail2web.com which I don't like to use too much). I might set up my own webmail at some point..

I run my own mailserver using Postfix.

It's not that I don't trust anyone with my email, it's... no wait... it is that I don't trust anyone with my email.

It tempts me sometimes, but after so long of using my own email service I have a hard time convincing myself to put my email in their hands.

Do you use anything for webmail?

I don't currently. I've used several different web front-ends for email in the past.

Webmail is, because of it's remote nature, fairly slow. I receive so much email that even a slight bit of slowness is really annoying. I prefer instead to have my notebook continually download my email and then I can deal with it locally.

Ah, same as me. There is some convenience to it for sure, so long as you don't move between OS's or devices a lot I suppose.. In all honesty I'm fine enough with it not to be terribly pressed to change, but every now and then I wish I had a webmail set up.

Maybe the best would be to have both options..

Here's an interesting possibility: How to add any POP3 Email Account to Hotmail.

So hotmail can be used as webmail for email you host yourself. Hmm..
