Danger Sidekick-3

This latest version of the Sidekick has made some changes over previous phones. One of the most attractive changes in the design is the addition of a trackball, which is much easier to use when moving through the functions of the unit. Along with the trackball, the Sidekick-3 also comes with a keypad that is slightly larger than many other phones, which can be a plus for people who hate working with miniscule keys. All the favorite features found with previous versions of the Sidekick are still here and intact, as well as some great new offerings.

The camera on the Sidekick-3 is much greater than before, with a more robust color resolution and ease of use. The mp3 provides additional storage for music files, and the quality of the sound for the unit in general is better than ever. Also, the overall size of the unit is a little slimmer, making the Sidekick-3 fit into a pocket much easier than previous versions. New features include limited Bluetooth capability, an enhanced speakerphone feature, and a mini SD slot for memory.

Pros

  • Smaller in size, which is a big plus for many people
  • The trackball makes navigation a breeze
  • The camera is better than ever, as is the speakerphone

Cons

  • The switch to T-mobile may affect the quality of coverage in some areas
  • No real enhancements to the game capabilities
  • Sound quality when off the speaker is still not what it should be.

Final Word

Overall, not a bad option for basic uses, but there is still some work to be done before the Sidekick will crack through to the upper echelon of handheld devices.
