The BenQ T60 is a stylish new phone from a company that is just beginning to make a name for themselves in the tech market. Announced in March of 2008, the phone is designed to be more of a fashion accessory than a full featured device designed for business users and gadget fiends. While it still has a lot of great features, there are a couple of points that really hold this phone back considering the heavy competition in the fashion phone arena.
The BenQ T60 is a GSM device. Normally this means that the phone can be used anywhere, however thanks to restrictions on the bands used, the BenQ T60 is somewhat limited. It does allow for some roaming in other parts of the world, though the signal reception may be poor. Also, the BenQ T60 only includes support for the GPRS 2G data transfer network. Measuring in at approximately 109mm by 46mm by 10mm and weighing only 80 grams, the BenQ T60 is a small and lightweight phone. You can easily slide it into your pocket when you are on the go. Battery life on the BenQ T60 is extremely poor. Expect to get only two and a half hours of talk time or 180 hours of standby time on a single charge. This is battery life that is expected on an ultra powerful smartphone – not a feature-limited fashion phone. The front of the BenQ T60 is graced by a 2.2 inch, 240 by 320 pixel screen that is capable of displaying 256k colors. Compare this screen to those by Nokia which are approximately the same size but display 16 million colors. Multimedia functions include support for a number of audio and video formats as well as expandable memory via microSD cards. The BenQ T60 also features a built in 3.2 Megapixel digital camera that can capture video. Other features include a large phone book, MP3 ringtone support, FM radio support, Bluetooth 1.1 support, a voice recorder, a number of voice-activated features, and USB 1.2 support. Pros
Cons
OverallThe BenQ T60 is a phone that you want to like – but you just can’t. Although it is very fashionable, that’s pretty much all it has going for it. The long list of features is seemingly impressive until you realize that none of them are what they’re cracked up to be. Ultimately, if you can get this phone for free, it’s a good deal. Otherwise, avoid it.
